Our Competitive levels are broken up into four divisions: Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Junior Varsity and Varsity. Cheerleaders are placed on teams/levels based on age, and what is best for our League and the cheerleaders' development. Competitive Cheer is a dedicated sport that requires full participation and commitment from each athlete. The season starts August 1st and is over as far out as December with Nationals. Competition Cheer will compete at a local competition, the Chicagoland Conference Competition; if qualifying then the Mid-America Regional Competition in November; if qualifying then Pop Warner Nationals the 1st week in December. They will also cheer at all games that are played on the weekends that start at the end of August. The regular season ends at the end of October and playoffs continue on to the end of November. Cheerleaders will continue to cheer for football teams at games as long as they continue in playoffs. Practice for Competitive Cheer starts 5 nights a week in August at the practice field for 2 hours a night and will drop to 3 nights a week after Labor Day. Indoor practice will begin once the weather changes at schools in the area, and the practices will remain indoors for the reminder of the season. The assigned school may vary practice to practice.
